im trying to make the wirings for the power supply to the gateway.
following the wiring schematics from Computourists diagram. I figured out why I may have some troubles all the time.
For the 3.3v regulator I have used a AMS 1117 sot223.
When connecting it to a 9v battery, it outputs 3.29v.
when connecting it to an arduino 9v power adaptor the ams1117 outputs 9v and destroys the ams1117 3.3v. Why is that?
So far burned 2x rfm69's 2x ams1117 and proberly an uno r3 modded to 3.3v.
when measuring output of the 9v power adaptor its at 11,09v

Your power supply must be really bad ! The only explanation I can think of (apart from reversing polarity) is that somehow high-voltage spikes are present on the 9 Volts output. Short spikes do not show up when you measure with a voltmeter, but they can destroy equipment that is connected.
I normally use simple USB-power supplies, that you can buy for charging a phone. They are cheap and deliver 5 volts, just what you need...

I see a max of 15V for the AMS 1117 check the unloaded voltage. I'm with computourist use a usb supply.
