Battery Powered Reed Switch without arduino

Hi I am just wondering if I could make the battery powered reed switch without the set up that you created. I just want to make the device and connect it to openhab. Will the device still work?

Hi. The "setup" (gateway) is what connects the battery powered reed switch to OpenHAB. There's other options (see the sticky thread about using RFM69 directly on a Pi), but you'll need something to translate the wireless data to MQTT.
